TOURNAMENT RULES
Premier Division
Premier Division of the Australian Schools Hockey Championship will be played under FIH Rules of Hockey, not-withstanding some minor amendments as shown below.
Games will be played as 4 x 15 minute periods.
Time out will be taken for injuries, cards etc
All games will be played until a winner is determined. If the score is tied after the end of normal time, a Penalty shoot-out (1 v GK) will be played with 3 players from each team. If scores are still tied, then sudden death penalty shoot-out will continue until a winner is determined
Point score for round matches will be as follows:
Win (Normal time) – 3 points
Win (Penalty shoot-out) – 2 points
Loss (Penalty shoot-out) – 1 points
Loss (Normal Time) – 0 points

Division 1
Division 1 of the Australian Schools Hockey Championship will be played under 2017 FIH Rules of Hockey. with following modifications:
Games will be played as 2 x 30 minute periods.
No time outs
The ability to play your stick above shoulder height will NOT be played.
A one v one will occur instead of a penalty stroke
Point score for round matches will be as follows:
Win – 3 points
Draw – 1 point
Loss – 0 points
PLAYOFF FORMAT. In the event that Division 1 contains more than 12 teams and is conducting using pools of 4-6 teams, teams may be split into Divisions 1 – 6 playoffs as follows. This will ensure that all teams will play similar level teams at end of the competition and all have something to play for on last 2 days
Teams finishing 1st in Pools will playoff for Division 1 title (Semi Finals, 3rd v 4th, Final)
Teams finishing 2nd in Pools will playoff for Division 2 title (Semi Finals, 3rd v 4th, Final)
Teams finishing 3rd in Pools will playoff for Division 3 title (Semi Finals, 3rd v 4th, Final)
Teams finishing 4th in Pools will playoff for Division 4 title (Semi Finals, 3rd v 4th, Final)
Teams finishing 5th in Pools will playoff for Division 5 title (Semi Finals, 3rd v 4th, Final)
Teams finishing 6th in Pools will playoff for Division 6 title (Semi Finals, 3rd v 4th, Final)
